Library Services for Persons with Disabilities

The Tom & Ada Beam Library offers good faith efforts to accommodate requests for assistance with library services to all members of the Oklahoma Christian University community with disabilities. The type and nature of assistance is usually determined at the time a request is made. If you have special needs, please contact the library in advance for accommodation.

Book and Article Retrieval
The library staff will retrieve books and print journals from the shelves for patrons in a wheelchair or on crutches, or who have other documented disabilities that prevent independent access to the material. Arrangements can also be made to pick up the books and print journals at a later time.

Assistance with photocopying or use of other equipment in the library can be provided to patrons with disabilities.

Proxy Borrowing
Patrons with disabilities may arrange to have another person check out materials in their name. Please phone or email the library to arrange for this service.

Research Assistance
Individualized research assistance can be arranged by contacting the library.

Assistive Technology (available on the 1st floor of the library)

Merlin Reader
Enlarges print images such as pages of magazines and books for viewing.
Plustek Book Reader
